June 8th we are opening The Strip District for all regularly scheduled classes. Our North location
in Zelienople (formerly in Cranberry) will open on the 15th. We are excited to get back to practicing arts that engage our bodies and minds, and to see all our friends and training partners. We are committed to doing it safely.
Being fit is one of the most important factors in staying healthy. While not everyone will be ready to return to in-person training, many who don’t have specific risk factors will want to. We encourage you to make your own decision to return to training or to wait. In our commitment to safety, we ask you to limit different partners in open mats. We will no longer switch partners during classes as we normally do. Our enhanced cleaning procedures will require a little more time between consecutive classes.
All billing will be unfrozen June 8th. While many gyms, martial arts schools and similar institutions kept charging members during the shutdown, we did not. We have not billed our members since April 1st. If you aren’t ready to come back, we understand and support that decision. Just write to email@example.com and ask us to freeze or cancel your membership.
In addition, we’re excited to announce our two new Stout locations. Our North Location (formerly on Route 19 in Cranberry) will open in Zelienople on June 15th at 50 Halstead Blvd Zelienople, PA 16063. This new and improved location features a larger space, a ring, an MMA Cage and aerial silks. Next month, our brand new location in Monroeville will open.
At Stout, we appreciate you and we are looking forward to this new chapter of self growth and improvement.
StoutPGH – Team Renzo Gracie
We pride ourselves on organized training methods, continuously improving our curriculums, and offering the most class-times in the area so you can get the most value from your membership while getting consistent training even if you have a busy schedule. Click the link below and someone will get in contact with you soon.
We will not pull cards during the month of June. You will be required to sign a new waiver and expected to monitor your health. We will have zero tolerance for anyone with any signs of illness coming into the school. Doing so may result in permanent dismissal. We will end hour-long classes a few minutes early so we can thoroughly sanitize between class times.
Some of you may not be ready for the close, personal contact that comes with man-to-man grappling. That’s why we’ve created a new style of training. ‘Stout Training’ is a conditioning class that incorporates movements and skills from Thai Boxing, MMA and Jiu Jitsu in combination with strength training and mobility modalities. Stout Training is an intense, high-energy class designed to get you into fighter shape, without actually fighting another member. It’s a great way to get back in shape before you resume your regular classes, the perfect option for introducing friends to fighting arts, and for those of you who are not ready for close personal contact due to concerns about Covid-19. Stout Training will be offered as part of our strength and conditioning program membership or as a stand-alone program for a special introductory price.
Thursday: 4:45PM, 6:30PM
We will offer small group classes — 8 people max — taught by our most experienced instructors for an additional membership fee.
Participation will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Wednesdays: 7:30-8:45pm (Fundamentals and Intermediate levels)
Fridays: 6:30-7:45pm (Advanced levels)
*Current members can sign up for this as an add on to their existing membership for a discounted rate at the front desk or this can be a stand alone program for new members.
In June, we will be offering new Jiu Jitsu & Thai Boxing private lesson packages at 15% off. There are several formats for these lessons. You can choose to practice with a partner at home and have Warren or another senior instructor join on video, or you can come into the gym and get a traditional private lesson. Also, we will be offering a new premium option which will include live video sessions with Warren and Shawn Williams.
To help you stay informed during the COVID-19 crisis, we built a free online platform for you. www.stoutpghondemand.com offers live classes, techniques, and solo workout drills. Going forward, we will no longer host live classes, but we will put new material up weekly to supplement our Jiu Jitsu and Thai Boxing curriculums. These videos will provide enhanced details and techniques that work well with the positions and techniques that are taught in our weekly curriculum. You also get in-depth strategy discussions on how techniques fit into different contexts: i.e. self-defense and MMA. Occasionally, we will also feature high-profile guest instructor footage. For the first two weeks after launch, online access will be available to add onto your membership for a discounted rate of $9.95/month. The advantage to this program versus other excellent online resources is that it will closely follow what you are practicing in classes and also give you access to our entire on-demand video catalog.
We will continue our popular Facebook and Instagram live Q & A sessions, moving them to 7:30pm Friday evenings starting June 13th. In addition, Warren filmed a course on the head-inside-single-leg takedown for a submission grappling which will be available soon on our store.
We’re pleased to introduce our Stout PGH online gear store, featuring tee shirts designed by our members and artists. These tees are great and help both our school and local artists who’ve been out of work recently. Look for new styles soon!
