Pat Santoro, Lehigh Head Wrestling Coach, on the Importance of Creativity and More

Pat Santoro teaching wrestling at Stout Training in Pittsburgh

Pat Santoro is currently the head wrestling coach at Lehigh University.  He’s had good success both as a head and as an assistant coach in all of the college programs he has been involved in.  In addition to this he was a 2 X NCAA DI wrestling champion, and had an excellent freestyle / international wrestling career.  He loves wrestling maybe more than anyone else I’ve ever met.  He is more than just a teacher but has been a mentor to me and many others on and off the mats.   Pat has lots of quotable material in this podcast. One of my favorites is “Do the next right thing.” We start out talking about kids going into wrestling and sports in general.  He uses the “sponge” analogy.  Pat goes on to discuss coaching philosophies, the importance and mindset of “play wrestling” and much more.   EVERYONE  can get some good information from this podcast.  If you are a wrestler, combat athlete, jiu jitsu player, submission grappler, mma fighter, coach of any sport, or a parent you’re going to like this interview/conversation.  I”m Warren Stout, one of Pats former wrestlers, and host of the podcast at Stout Training Pittsburgh.
