We organize great summer camps, Birthday Parties, and All evening events. Parents can do class (BJJ, Kickboxing/Muay Thai, fitness) or use our fully equipped weights and cargo gym while your kids are in class. We want to give you an introduction to our school by giving you an inside look into our Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Class.
Little Super Heroes (Ages 4-5)
Let us enrich your child’s development through games and play specially designed for this age group. We’ll help your child learn how his or her body moves, how to empathize with others and how to build self-control and focus.
This fun class is taught not through discipline, but through positive reinforcement and demonstration examples. Our main objective for this age group is to ensure children have fun and develop a love for sport, physical activity and martial arts, which will stay with them for a lifetime.
Our mat area is the safest possible environment for children to play, roll, run and start to learn movement patterns of sports and martial arts.
Kids’ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Ages 5-8)
This is a great age to help instill important life skills like perseverance, confidence, responsibility and creativity. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art that provides a total body workout and is a great for engaging students in positive, hands-on training. In this class, your child will learn the basics in a safe way while building athletic skills applicable to all sports.
Our instructors have all state child worker clearances and are true experts in Jiu Jiu Jitsu. Unlike Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, and other traditional martial arts, hitting is not emphasized. Classes include friendly competition that is not based on a judge or teacher deciding who wins. This empowers children in a special way and creates a “can do” attitude at this critical development stage where children are starting to define their own personalities. It also give students internal confidence as well as technical fighting skills that will stop bullies.
Kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 8-12)
In these classes, children will expand their learning to include technical Jiu Jitsu skills such as joint locks. This is an especially social age, so we emphasize this aspect of childhood development. Children practice the most effective and tested self defense skills in a safe way. They also engage in competitive practice which teaches empathy. The class structure is designed to teach physical skills and mental skills such as overcoming distractions and controlling strong emotions.
Advanced Kids’ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
This program is for students with previous experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, either from our school or from other schools.
If your child wants to compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or other grappling sports, we follow the world recognized IBJJF belt promotion program. Many students of our program have been training for 4 years or more and some are NAGA national champions and do well in other local competitions such as Grappling Industries. Our instructors follow an advanced technical curriculum and classes are taught by head adult instructors including some by the Pittsburgh’s best BJJ black belt competitors. There is live training and we coach children in at local and national competitions.
Stout Training Pittsburgh is an official Team Renzo Gracie affiliate and Pittsburgh’s only school affiliated with a member of the Gracie Family.
