Gi Brazilian Jiu jitsu tournament in “The Strip District” Sun. Dec.15th
Stout Training PIttsburgh / Team Renzo Gracie will host a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament for white and blue belts, Sunday Dec. 15th in the “Strip District”. This tournament will be open to blue and white belts 15 years and older. Men’s divisions will be weights in lbs (160 and below, above 160-175, above 175-190, above 190-220, 221+). Women (15 years and older) will have two division, 135lbs and below and above 135lbs. Format will be double elimination. We will make an effort to separate teammates in braketing. First, Second, and Third places will be awarded. There will be no team score kept. Rules will be modifed IBJJF rules. All matches will be 5 minutes. Modifications to IBJJF rules will be the following: that no advantages or negative points will be awarded, if a match is a tie score there will be a one minute overtime in which the first person to score will be the winner. If there is no score or submission in overtime period the referee will decide the winner based on near submissions and general match conduct. Please note that although this is a competitive event we would like to keep the atmosphere relaxed, friendly and safe. The goal we have for this event is to create a middle ground between training at your home jiu jitsu school and competing at a regular tournament. If you have less than 3 month experience with jiu jitsu we advise you do not participate. Also if you are a seaoned blue belt competitor, this event is not for you. We want a venue for new people interesting in competing to get there feet wet and to give local jiu jitsu practitioners a cost effective way to compete against others in the area. Please have nails clipped and a clean gi.
To register click on the paypal icon below (all you need is a credit or debit card, no paypal account necessary). Include with the payment a note stating your name, weight class, school/academy affiliation, and belt level. Registration costs $35 up until the day before the tournament (14th). Please pre-register! At the door cost will be $50. No refunds will be given before the event. We will refund individual competitors if there are less than 2 people in their weight class.
